Page Guidelines

Failure to comply with the Page Guidelines will result in your page being marked for deletion. Pages that are marked for deletion will be given a period of one week to fix their violations. If the violations are not fixed within the one week period, the page will be deleted.

  1. All pages should have correct grammar, capitalization, and punctuation. This does not necessarily mean the page has to have perfect grammar, capitalization, and punctuation to fit this guideline, as there are generous users on The Demon's Light Wiki who will correct small mistakes for you. However, if a large amount of the page is composed of grammar, capitalization, or punctuation errors, the page will be marked for deletion.
  2. All pages should contain an infobox, containing all necessary information. The infobox is located here.
  3. All pages should contain a minimum of twenty, full length sentences. Sentences that can be combined together, ie: "He has black eyes and black hair." as opposed to "He has black eyes. He has black hair" will not be counted.
  4. All character pages cannot be a Mary-Sue type character.
    1. Mary Sue Character is defined as a character that is an idealized and seemingly perfect fictional character. Often this character is recognized as an author insert or wish-fulfillment. 
    2. An example of this would be an original character that has unrestricted regenerative capability and immortality.
  5. All character pages must be related to The Demon's Light.

Chatroom Guidelines

  1. Prohibited Words
    1. If you are to say any of the following words, you will be barred from the chatroom for two hours.
      1. rape, cunt, racial slurs, any words relating to human geniltalia
  2. Please be aware of who you are sharing your personal information with.
    1. Please be careful when sharing your personal information with others. Do not share any personal information with someone unless you are absolutely sure who they are.
    2. It is fine, however, to share something such as your age or name.
    3. It is not fine, however, to share something such as your address, or a photograph of yourself.
  3. Please be respectful.
    1. The Demon's Light Wiki is designed to be a welcoming community for everyone. If you are going to say that you do not like a user, please be respectful. Failure to do so will result in a warning, followed by you being banned from chat for two hours.
  4. Keep spam to a minimum.
    1. Spam offers nothing to the present discussion, and simply clogs up chat, and lags computers. 
    2. Spam includes, but is not limited to: holding down the space-bar and creating a large wall of nothing, typing the same message repeatedly, stretching, using an unnecessary amount of emoticons, and an excessive use of capital letters.
    3. Spam will first be punished with an immediate two hour chatroom ban. A second offensive will result in 6 hours, then one day, then one week, one month, and then indefinite.
  5. Accept the opinions of others.
    1. Some users may disagree with your opinions on certain topics. Unless the user disrespectfully disagreed with your opinion, allow the user to speak their mind.
  6. Listen to Chat Moderators and Administrators at all times.
    1. If an administrator has requested you not to do something, stop what you are doing. Failure to comply will result in you being banned from the chatroom for two hours.
  7. Do not Sock puppet
    1. A sock puppet is an account that was created with the purpose of evading a ban on a main account. Do not do this, as the sock puppet will be blocked for indefinite, and your current account's ban will be added on to.

Roleplay Guidelines

  1. Please do not God-Mod
    1. The term "God-Mod" in a roleplay means that your character is all-powerful, and does whatever they want to.
      1. These includes, but is not limited to: controlling other characters, instantly killing characters, being completely immune to attacks
  2. If an administrator tells you to conclude the roleplay, stop
    1. If an administrator tells you to conclude the roleplay, you are to cease all roleplay discussion. Failure to do so will be punished by a kick, followed by you being barred from the chatroom for two hours.
  3. All out of roleplay discussion should be done in brackets
    1. Please type all out of roleplay discussion in brackets. This includes, (('s, [['s, or {{'s. Failure to do so will result in a warning, followed by a kick, followed by you being barred from the chatroom for two hours.
  4. No sexual intercourse in the roleplay
    1. Romance is allowed, for example, kissing, but no sexual intercourse is to take place.

Chat Moderator Guidelines

These are the guidelines for how Chat Moderators and Administrators should conduct themselves:

  1. Be a leader.
    1. You're not in charge of the chat, but are leaders of the chat. Set the example by having great conversations and supporting users. The ideal chat mod is a facilitator, someone who is encouraging and helps people feel supported and empowered.
  2. Be friendly.
    1. As a leader, you set the tone for the channel. If you're friendly and welcoming, others will follow your lead. If someone is acting rude or confrontational, react calmly and politely as you enforce the rules.
  3. Assume good faith.
    1. Users of all skill levels and opinions will participate in chat. Even if someone makes a mistake, they are still likely trying to be a positive part of the discussion. Assume that mistakes are made out of good intentions, not malice.
  4. Ban with care.
    1. Banning someone from chat is rarely the first option. If a user has problematic behavior, encourage them to improve the behavior before you resort to banning them.
  5. Be willing to ban your friends.
    1. If your friends act out and continue to do so after all the warnings, you must be willing to ban and keep the ban in place until it runs out. No unbanning them after a few minutes, the ban must run out.
  6. Keep it fun.
    1. Chat should be fun for everyone, including you! If you find yourself getting stressed, it's always okay to take a break. Chat should be a place where you too can relax, enjoy yourself, and help others have a good time.
  7. Please remember that Chat Moderators and Administrators May Lose Their Positions
    1. If you are chat moderator or an administrator, and you are banned for longer than two hours, your position may be revoked.
