Request Accepted

I, C.Syde65 would like to request rollback rights on The Demon's Light Wiki. One of the reasons I am applying for this position is so that I can help out more with the content namespaces. Indeed there's not much a rollback can do that a regular user cannot do, but it's a prerequisite for requesting content moderator rights. Once I have rollback rights, I will look into requesting content moderator rights so that I can help with maintaining the wiki's content. I have been on this wiki for several months now, in which I have made more than 700 edits, many of those edits in which were made over the last month.

I believe that I would be an excellent candidate for the position as I have extensive experience with the rollback tool. I know when to use rollback, I know when not to use rollback. I am very familiar with why rollback was designed in the first place - for reverting vandalism, which I have extensive experience in doing. I have nearly four years worth of editing experience and over three years worth of administrative experience, but for now I am requesting rollback rights so I can help out with the wiki's content.

I am sure many others agree that I am a great candidate for the position, and am ready to step into the position. I know that rollback can be quite a destructive tool in the wrong hands, since I know that it can give trolls the ability to vandalise articles by reverting constructive edits, and edit warring with users when they revert their edits. But I have no intention of using the tool for any harmful purposes as it would look bad on my record as a user. I happen to be a member of the Community Council team which is another reason why it would look bad if I were to use rollback for the wrong reasons.

If for some reason people think I might use my rollback rights to revert counter vandalism, there is absolutely no way I would have any intention of doing that. To tell you the truth, if I was going to use rollback to do destructive things, I would just use the rollback script, which I've always perceived to be more destructive in the wrong hands than the actual rollback right, since with rollback rights, I would have to right click on all the edits that I want to revert so that I wouldn't be directed to the action complete page after performing a rollback. But with the rollback script I wouldn't have to do that, so if I was going to use rollback for destructive things, I would find the rollback script to be more reliable than the rollback right.

But since I am requesting rollback rights in order to help revert vandalism, and to become an eligible candidate for content moderator-ship in future, there is no need to fear me as a rollback. I hope that you will consider my request in advance, and if you have any queries or concerns, I will be happy to address them. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 11:03, September 28, 2017 (UTC)
