The Sabaoth is a theocratic military government which rules over the angel civilization in Eden and Euclid. It has been in constant conflict with the demon army since its founding. The organization is introduced in Season One as tertiary antagonists.

Background[]

The Sabaoth was formed by the Power Vritra to combat the demon rebellion instigated by Xeren. Makiel, an archangel, was given the title of Superior General and the title continued to be passed on after various deaths. Ezekiel, the current Superior General, became the full leader of the Sabaoth after Vritra's defeat during the battle of Empyrean. All of the Superior Generals, including the current one, have been archangels.

The Superior General is a lifelong title granting absolute rule over angel society. Below the Superior General are their five Advisors. The Advisors were tasked with assisting the current Superior General and appointing a successor after their death. Ezekiel's death by Cicero is not public knowledge and the Advisors now effectively share his previous power. Cacciatore, the "Mouth of Ezekiel," publicly relays their judgements as if they are from the deceased.

The Sabaoth consists of seven divisions with varying numbers of subdivisions. Jophiel's Hussars are a special elite unit dedicated to the security of Empyrean, although they may assist other divisions elsewhere if needed. Sabaoth commanders serve the roles of military leaders, high priests and, in some cases, regional representatives.

Due to the Demon Army's membership, the Nuyo-Dyavol Coalition has been the principal adversary of the Sabaoth. No alliance between the Sabaoth and any human government has been established despite their common enemy. The Global Union has a mutual non-aggression pact with the angel forces, though it has not been consistently enforced. The angels are widely regarded as apathetic towards human suffering due to their apparent insignificance in the demon-angel conflict. Consistently high human collateral damage has been a point of contention for the duration of the angels' time on Euclid.

During his time as CEO, Gabriel Arsene had arranged a private alliance between his company, Alchemilia Corporation, and the Sabaoth. This agreement included the exchange of atomics.

After the death of most of the archangels during the battles of Primum and Empyrean, Ezekiel was chosen as the latest Superior General. His prowess for battle earned him a great deal of fame and turned him into a celebrity for the general angel population.

Ezekiel convinced Anafiel, his twin brother and fellow archangel, to accompany him on a surprise attack against Cicero. Underestimating the demigod, Ezekiel was killed in battle. Anafiel barely survived and informed the Advisors of his brother's death.

In the present day, he remains the public face of the Sabaoth following a propaganda campaign to keep his image alive. The "Mouth of Ezekiel" was formed, with a chosen speaker relaying messages from the Advisors under the pretense the messages are from the fallen leader.
